Zubeen Garg flown to Guwahati city after injury in mishap

GUWAHATI: Assam's musical icon Zubeen Garg is undergoing treatment at a private hospital here after being shifted here via air ambulance from a private hospital in Dibrugarh, where he was admitted after suffering a fall last night in the bathroom of a resort where he was staying. A team of five doctors from the private hospital received Zubeen at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI).

Earlier, doctors in Dibrugarh said that Zubeen's vital parameters were normal at the time of being shifted from Dibrugarh. The singer received five stitches to his head at Dibrugarh after the fall in the bathroom, they added.

After the incident, Zubeen was rushed to a private hospital in hospital where the doctors performed a CT scan.

It may be mentioned that Assam's Health Minister Keshab Mahanta has said the State Government is providing all necessary assistance to the singer, including making available the air ambulance service. The Minister said that he is monitoring the situation closely.

Earlier, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that if needed, the singer will be flown to Guwahati in an air ambulance for treatment. He had also instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh to keep a close watch on Zubeen's condition.

A CORRESPONDENT ADDS FROM DIBRUGARH: As per reports, Zubeen had a seizure following an epileptic fit.

Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan also visited the hospital to enquire about Zubeen's health. "I've met Zubeen and he is stable. His reports are normal but his sodium is low," Phukan said.
