ITANAGAR: Pema Khandu Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday convened a cabinet meeting to hold a discussion on the recent leak of papers of the Assistant Engineer examination conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).

The exams were held on August 26 and 27 last.

Soon after the meeting, the Chief Minister on Twitter wrote "Chaired the Cabinet meeting on APPSC's paper leakage issue. We've taken serious note of the lapse and are determined to further streamline the system by plugging the gaps. We can't tolerate any lacunae which undermine the sanctity of an institution like APPSC."

Soon after the leak of the papers, the state government recommended a CBI investigation into the incident.

In a letter to the Department of Personnel and Training, the State Vigilance Commissioner – Kaling Tayeng wrote, "The case is serious in nature and investigation by local police reveals involvement of state government officials as well as possibility of inter-state ramifications. Therefore, you are requested to initiate necessary action for transfer of the instant case to CBI for further investigation by them".

Earlier, Chief Minister Pema Khandu has assured the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) and All Nysihi Students' Union (ANSU) that the Commissioner, Secretary and members of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) will be suspended after a Cabinet meeting is held.

This was informed by the ANSU president Nabam Dodum who, along with the AAPSU members, held a meeting at the State Civil Secretariat with the Chief Minister regarding their charters of demand in regards to the APPSC AE (Civil) question paper leak mess.

Speaking to the reporters, Dodum said that the CM has assured to suspend the Commissioner, Secretary and members of the commission after a Cabinet meeting. Subsequently, the CM will forward a letter for termination to the Governor for his approval.
