Can something be done?

After 19 months, Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi has been discharged by the NIA Court over charges clamped under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act or UAPA for his alleged role in the anti-CAA movement. There are numerous such cases where the persons are acquitted after they had spent years in prison for suspected or alleged crimes. It's now fashionable to state that no innocent man should be punished even if a guilty one escapes the penalty, but in reality, it is a different story. Can something be done in this regard for the future of the citizens.

Evening prayers

Evening prayers used to be an important ritual while we were growing up but this ritual is gradually losing its ground. After washing our hands and feet in the evening, we would head straight to our 'Gokhain Ghor' and recite prayers. This ritual worked wonders as it would calm our nerves and helped us to focus on our studies. Depression, a serious mental illness that has only aggravated in recent times is wreaking people's personal and social lives. Depression should be taken seriously and there are a host of treatments and cures for depression and prayer can emerge as the best among those cures. The people who are feeling low can make out 10 minutes from their daily schedule to pray. It will not only calm their tangled minds but also help them to have a new perspective of life.

True picture

Those who are closely following the Rafale Deal might be interested to know the true story behind all the drama. Recently an NGO named 'SHERPA' filed a case against the deal in France and earlier it was Congress who had filed the case in India to quench their thirst of scoring a few brownie and political points. Now, going deeper into the issue some shocking revelations have come to light. The funding sources of 'SHERPA' are Sigrid Raising Trust (SRT) and the Charles Leopold Meyer Foundation for the Progress of Humankind (FPH). Further, it has come to light that two of the trustees of SRT namely Mabel Van Oranje and Chris Stone are linked to the Open Society Foundation of George Soros. As per the website of FPH, it is funded by the NGOs namely Edge Funders European Foundation Center (EFC) and Aridne. The websites of these funders of FPH who are also sponsoring SHERPA are also linked to the Open Society Foundation of George Soros. It has further come to light that the Open Society Foundation of George Soros is the common factor. Now, this Open Society Foundation of George Soros is the one that has openly declared the fight against PM Modi in the World Economic Forum-2020 held in Davos for taking a strong stand to protect the interest of India. Some more stunning revelations have come out which includes names of some prominent Indians who are directly linked with the 'Open Society Foundation' of George Soros; viz, Amrit Singh — daughter of former PM Manmohan Singh,; Shiv Shankar Menon — former National Security Adviser (NSA) of India under Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh during the UPA regime and Harsh Mandee, former member of National Advisory Council formed by Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

We should remain alert of such traps set by NGOs, New York Times, Twitter and ISI.

The uncompromising leader

Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi was released by the Special NIA Court on July 1 after long detention of more than one and a half year in jail. He has been acquitted of all the charges framed against him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act as the credentials submitted could not convince the Court to prove Akhil Gogoi guilty. This has also brought to light the nefarious plan hatched by both the Central and State governments to keep Akhil Gogoi behind bars to silence his voice against the anti-CAA movement in Assam where people came out voluntarily to protest against the law. However, justice prevails at the end of the day. Even though I am not a blind supporter of Akhil Gogoi I must admit that in my view he is an honest man and an uncompromising leader as of date, the qualities which are rare amongst modern-day leaders. We expect that as an opposition MLA in the Assembly, Akhil Gogoi will play a constructive role in solving numerous burning problems of the State. I wish him good luck on his new journey.

Vaccine hesitancy

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to grab the attention of authorities concerned about the rising fear among people regarding the after-effects of COVID-19 vaccination. With the spread of various misinformation related to the consequences of vaccination in the State, some people who lack proper knowledge about it are found to be afraid to get themselves vaccinated. This is becoming a major concern as in some of the districts of Assam, the cases are seen to be rising even after the government's initiatives of free vaccination drives. People avoiding vaccination are vulnerable to the deadly virus and can also act as carrier agents which might lead to global health threats later on. This is of utmost importance that the concerned authorities should look into the matter and take appropriate steps to create awareness and remove certain myths in people's mind regarding the vaccination.
