Farcical ONGCL recruitment test

Farcical ONGCL recruitment test

Whenever we notice that members of different students’ unions resorting to agitations - programmes against the Oil giants ONGCL and OIL – we blame the student unions for stalling the functioning of ONGCL and OIL. We even blame the students’ unions for launching agitations at the drop of a hat, thereby eroding the credibility of the two organizations lowering their image before the people. But we are jolted to our sense when we analyse the causes of the discontent among the students which prompt them to agitate against the two oil sectors. A news item published in a section of the print media laid bare the evil design of the ONGCL to deprive the candidates of Assam. It so happened that the Headquarters of ‘ONGCL’s Assam asset, Nazira invited applications for 308 posts in the non-executive cadres in January 2019. Accordingly, online test was held in Tripura, Dehradun, Mumbai and Assam. While the test was held flawlessly in other centres say- Tripura, Dehradun and Mumbai a flawed test (façade?) was held in Assam. In the said farcical test held in Guwahati, Jorhat and Tezpur there was no adequate sitting accommodation nor was there the adequate number of computer. To add to the woes of the candidates, Internet service was not there in some of the centres. We, the people of Assam, feel it is a calculated move of the ONGCL to deprive the local candidates. So, the test held in Assam was absolutely eyewash. The only solution now left is holding the test afresh to do justice to the candidates from Assam. Who else can be the right person on whom we people can rely? It is Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. We appeal to him through your esteemed daily to take up the issue with all seriousness with the appropriate authority so that the farcical test can be held afresh.
