Whip on religious conversions: Letters to The Editor

The UP Police have recently busted a network in Noida where forceful conversion was carried out in a deaf and dumb school run by Islamic Dawah Centre. The school which was supposed to impart education to deaf and dumb children belonging to poor families, in reality, is a centre where forceful illegal religious conversions are being carried out. Police arrested Mufti Kazi Jahangir Qasmi, Chairman of Islamic Dawah Centre and the principal Mohamed Umar Gautam and both have confessed about the illegal conversions in the school. Now, very interestingly as per the investigation report Badruddin Ajmal's NGO is involved in this ring. The NGO's name has been found in the list of funding sources. Yet, back in our State, a few so-called intellectuals term Badruddin Ajmal as Messiah of Asomiya and also a fit person to hold the Chief Minister's post.

COVID pandemic

Through the esteemed and widely circulated column of your newspaper, I would like to express and convey my views to society.

We have not even emerged from the lockdown and the second wave of COVID-19. Now we have to face the third wave at a nationwide level. As per my perspective, the main focal point is to restraint the transmission. But if we are not fully vaccinated, we should avoid crowded places. Wash our hands frequently and wear masks. These are essential precautions which we should take to reduce our risk of catching or spreading coronavirus.

As per the study done by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Imperial College London, the UK, the third wave of COVID won't be drastic compared to the second wave. This is due to a vaccine ramp-up scenario where 40 per cent of the population has received two doses within three months of the second wave. The expeditious increase of vaccination attempt may play an indispensable role to take the edge of ongoing & forthcoming waves of the pandemic to some extent.

It's quite difficult to predict the concern changing effect of the virus. But we should keep a close watch on it for a longer period than we expected. However, only with solidarity we can defeat the virus and build a better world.

Entrance examinations

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to bring to your attention the absence of the inclusion of the papers like quantitative ability and logical reasoning in the course curriculum of our education system. As these are the papers mostly asked in any entrance examination to grab a job it must be inculcated from a very young age to the students by adding it as the main course subject in their schooling. As a result of which the students will have a grasp of such subjects and will be prepared to appear in such entrance exams right after their formal education is over. This will help the students from saving their time which they use in taking extra coaching for preparation of the same.
