MUMBAI: Actor Ranvir Shorey on Wednesday morning took to Twitter to confirm that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

The 48-year-old actor stated that he has mild symptoms and has quarantined himself, as per Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) protocol. The Angrezi Medium actor wrote on Twitter, "I have tested positive for #COVID19. Symptoms are mild. Am quarantining."

Following his update on Twitter, many of his fans and followers wished him a quick recovery.

The actor also tweeted a picture of his phone, a thermometer and an oximeter with a caption saying, "My companions for the next week or so. #covidlife #quarantine #covidpositive"

The actor had a jampacked year in 2020 with films such as Kadakh, Lootcase and Angrezi Medium, which starred the late actor Irrfan Khan. He also worked in web series such as PariWar and High.

Shorey is currently working in the second season of a comedy-drama "Metro Park". The series started streaming in January on Eros Now.

He has also been shooting for Vikas Bahl's Sunflower with Sunil Grover and Mukul Chadha. He also has Santosh Sivan's Mumbaikaar in his kitty, which also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Sanjay Ishra and Vikrant Masey.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Mumbai mayor Kishori Pednekar warned that the Maharashtra government could impose a "second lockdown" in light of the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the city.

The number of COVID-19 cases in the city increased to 3,15,030 with 461 new cases on Tuesday and the death toll rose to 11,423 with three new fatalities, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said.

India's COVID-19 tally has increased to 1,09,37,320, with 11,6710 new cases. The number of people who have recovered from Covid-19 has increased to 1,06,44,858. The death count has gone up to 1,55,913 in the country with 100 more deaths. The data was released by the Union health ministry on Wednesday.
