Today 12 November marks the 81st birth anniversary of the Bollywood actor and director Amjad Khan who has made great contributions in the world of Indian Cinema.
Amjad had worked in more than 130 movies throughout his career in acting. The talented actor was born in 12 November 1949 and died at the age of 51 in the year 1992 after suffering from a heart attack.
Amjad Khan is still remembered across the country for his outstanding performance as a villain in the 1975 film Sholay. His iconic role as Gabbar Singh had gained much popularity from then till now. The film industry had made many villains in different films but no one can match the character of Gabbar Singh. Amjad Khan played the role of Gabbar in the movie Sholay in such a way that it looked so natural and created a particular image of a villain in the mind of the audience. His acting seems without effort turning the character Gabbar as the evilest one.
Amjad did full justice to the iconic role as Gabbar and became the greatest villain in Bollywood. The film Sholay directed by Ramesh Sippy also featured Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini but their roles got overshadowed in the film because of the excellent performance by Amjad Khan.
Some of the dialogues in the movie by Gabbar Singh that is still remembered by people are Kitne aadmi the?, Tera kya hoga Kaalia?, Joh darr gaya … samjho marr gaya, Yeh Haath Hum Ko De Thakur, Holi kab hai … kab hai Holi, kab?, Che goli aur aadmi teen … bahut nainsaafi hai yeh and many others.
