Bappi Lahiri an Indian popular singer and song composer turn a year older and celebrate his 69th birthday on Saturday 27 November.
The veteran singer-composer has given many superhits songs to the Bollywood film industry which are all-time favorites. In his four decades of singing career Lahiri has contributed to more than 450 Hindi films by producing the songs for those films.
With his utmost dedication in singing Bappi Lahiri has become the most successful music director of the Indian film industry giving evergreen hit songs. He is known to popularize the use of synthesized disco music in Bollywood and his song compositions reflected the synthesis of disco beats that gained popularity in the 90s and 80s.
Alokesh Lahiri known popularly as Bappi Lahiri was born on 27 November 1952 in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. Bappi took inspiration from Indian music icon SD Burman and decided to enter singing at the age of 17.
Fondly called Bappu Da is recognized for his peppy, groovy dance numbers and in Indian cinema, he became the pioneer of rock and disco music.
He entered the world of the music industry in the year 1972 with his music composition for Dadu, a Bengali film and then sang the first Hindi song in 1973 for the film Ninha Shikari. But the singer received much fame after the film Zakhnmi directed by Tahir Hussain. Bappi is fond of jewellery after getting influenced by Elvis Presley, a Hollywood singer.
Some of the superhit songs by Bappi Lahiri are Koi Yahan Aha Nache Nache (Disco-Dancer), Tamma Tamma (Thanedar), L Lag Gaye (Jolly LLB), Yaar Bina Chain Kaha Re (Saheb), Yaad Aa Rahe Hai (Disco-Dancer). These songs are still loved by people and are on the favorite list of many song listeners.
