Best Actor Title To Adil Hussain At The UK Asian Film Festival

GUWAHATI: Adil Hussain, the celebrated actor from Assam, won the Best Actor prize for his performance in the UK Asian Film Festival's world premiere of 'Footprints On Water.'

Tongues on Fire Ltd., a non-profit corporation, organises the UK Asian Film Festival, formerly known as the London Asian Film Festival. The Adil Hussain starrer was one of the major attractions, which ran from May 4 to May 14.

As well as being Nathalia Syam's directorial debut, the movie also has Nimisha Sajayan, Lena, and Danny Sura in the key roles, in addition to Adil Hussain.

In addition to winning best actor, the movie also won the "best debut film" award at the NYIFF.

It should be noted that on May 11, the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) presented the title of "Best Debut Film" to the film "Footprints on Water," which starred the widely famous Assamese actor Adil Hussain.

The NYIFF made the announcement on their official Twitter handle on Wednesday, “Celebrating an Extraordinary Journey! Footprints On Water wins the prestigious title of "Best Debut Film" at NYIFF, as acclaimed by the Film Critics Circle of India. This captivating masterpiece has left a lasting impression, stirring hearts with its profound storytelling and mesmerizing performance.”

The upcoming English movie "Footprints on Water" is directed by Nathalia Syam and has Adil Hussain, Nimisha Sajayan, Lena, and Danny Sura in the lead characters. The British movie tells the tale of a "foreign father living illegally in the UK who searches for his missing daughter while avoiding police surveillance."

Adil Hussain has made contributions to both Indian and international cinema, including popular Bollywood and parallel cinema. 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' and 'Life of Pi' are only a couple of his notable works.

The versatile actor received the Best Actor Male Award at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival in the year 2021. For his performance in the movie "Raahgir," he received the honour. In addition, he received the National Film Awards (Special Jury) at the 2017 National Film Awards for his performance in Maj Rati Keteki and Hotel Salvation.

Shiladitya Bora, a filmmaker and producer from Assam, has previously won the Best Film award at the UK Asian Film Festival for his feature directorial debut, "Bhagwan Bharose."

According to a press release, the festival's last film was a coming-of-age drama in Hindi that premiered on May 13 at the Kiln Theatre in North West London and is based on a Sudhakar Neelmani narrative.
