NEW DELHI: Director of The Kashmir Files Vivek Agnihotri made waves on Friday when he posted a video of himself moving down the street while surrounded by multiple security personnel. Many of his supporters expressed their dissatisfaction over the situation, blaming the 'wastage' of their tax dollars. Now that he has stated that the same tax money is used to fight terrorism, he claims that if it is done away with, he may live in freedom.
While replying to a comment by a follower on Twitter he wrote, "Tax payers money is used here to combat religious terrorism. If this stops, I can also live freely. #Kashmir".
"Shocking to see how much of tax payers' money is being wasted on security on a s****ag anti-national like you." He shared a picture of a heavily guarded street in Kashmir and wrote, "Tax payers money is used here to combat religious terrorism. If this stops, I can also live freely. #Kashmir,'' a tweet read by the follower.
He had posted a video of himself on a tour around the city on Friday. Along with that, he tweeted, "The price one has to pay to show the Genocide of Hindus in Kashmir. In a Hindu majority country. Freedom of expression, ha! #ImprisonedInOwnCountry #Fatwa."
"Oh my tax money" and "What a waste of taxpayer's money," among other comments, were left on the tweet. He is receiving security protection paid for by our taxes after his film The Kashmir Files was deemed tax-free, wrote another user in Hindi.
Following the success of his movie The Kashmir Files, Vivek is now a well-known figure. With nearly 300 crores in revenue, the movie is one of the highest-grossing Bollywood productions this year. It is based on the 1990s killings and flight of Kashmiri Pandits. Starring in the movie is Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumaar, Pallavi Joshi, Chinmay Mandlekar, and Bhasha Sumbli.
The Vaccine War is the project Vivek is currently filming. Early this month, the movie began production. On the occasion of Independence Day next year, it will open in theatres in 11 different languages. The coronavirus vaccination in India will be the central theme.
