NEW DELHI: The Delhi Assembly panel on peace and harmony summons actress Kangana Ranaut for her statement against Sikhs.
Raghav Chadha, the head of the committee and also the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party ordered a notice to Ranaut asking her to be present before the Delhi Assembly's peace and harmony committee on 6 December 2021.
The summon notice to Kangana Ranaut has been signed by the deputy secretary of the committee. In the notice, the committee informed that it has come across numerous complaints against Ranaut for her outrageously derogatory and offensive Instagram stories or posts which she had allegedly published on 20 November 2021 through her official Instagram handle.
The summon document stated that the remarks by Ranaut blanketly and thoroughly regarding the Sikhs as Khalistani terrorists have the potential to give rise to disharmony along with harmful humiliation to the whole community of Sikhs.
Various causes have been registered against Kangana Ranaut and mostly people from the Sikh community of which the first FIR was registered in Mumbai for the use of derogatory language against the Sikh religion on social media.
In a police complaint filed against Ranaut, Mumbai businessman, Shiromani Akali Dala and Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management committee leaders alleged that she had deliberately and intentionally portrayed a yearlong protest by farmers against 3 news farm laws as a Khalistani protest calling the protesters as Khalistani terrorists.
The three farm laws have now been cancelled by the central government as farmers from Punjab and Haryana strongly stand against these laws but Kangana Ranaut was a big critic of the protest.
In the Instagram post that Ranaut shared, she wrote that the Khalistani terrorists are arm twisting the Indian government at present but not to forget one only women prime minister who crushed them under her shoes. She further added that no matter how much suffering she cost India but she did not let the country get divided.
The post seems to mention former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who was slaughtered to death by her Sikh bodyguards in the year 1984 and then many riots took place in the country where 3000 people were killed. The armed men targeted Sikhs across the state of Delhi attacking people and destroying homes and shops.
