FIR Filed Against TMKOC Producer and Crew for Sexual Harassment

MUMBAI: Mumbai Police has registered a case against Asit Modi, the producer of the popular television show 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,' along with Sohail Ramani, the Operation Head, and Jatin Bajaj, the Executive Producer. The case was filed following a complaint made by one of the show's actors, Jennifer Mistry, who recently quit the show after accusing the makers of bad behavior and sexual assault. The First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged under Sections 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertains to assault or criminal force on a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty.

Jennifer Mistry voiced her grievances on social media after leaving the show, revealing her unpleasant experiences during her 15-year tenure. However, Asit Modi has vehemently denied the allegations, stating that legal action will be taken against Jennifer for attempting to defame him and the show. He claimed that her services were terminated, and her accusations are baseless.

The actor had previously filed a complaint against Asit Modi and two other crew members, and the Powai Police had recorded her statement. The Mumbai Police announced that they would summon Asit Modi to provide his statement. The complaint was received by the police through the National Commission for Women (NCW), to which Jennifer had sought justice.

Jennifer had also posted a video on Instagram, warning the show's makers not to mistake her silence for weakness. She recited a couplet emphasizing that her silence was a choice and that only God knows the truth.

Sohail Ramani and Jatin Bajaj, the accused crew members, have also denied the allegations, claiming that Jennifer regularly misbehaved with the entire team and displayed indiscipline during shoots. They stated that her contract was terminated due to her behavior and that she is now attempting to defame them and the show with baseless allegations. They have filed their own complaint against these accusations.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the police investigation is ongoing. The case has sparked a controversy surrounding the popular television show, with the conflicting accounts of the actor and the accused individuals creating a complex situation that requires further examination.
