Marakkar- Arabikadalinte Simham (Lion of the Arabian Sea) is an upcoming Malayalam film directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Antony Perumbavoor. After the news of the film getting released on the OTT platform now emerged a shocking twist as it is scheduled to be released on theatres on 2 December 2021. The film will be made available to watch in cinema halls this December and not on OTT platforms.
Minister for Film Development Corporation and Chalachitra Academy of Kerala, Saji Cherian, on Thursday, shared the news about the twist in the release of the movie Marakkar through his Facebook account.
The Minister said that the decision was taken after having long discussions with the producer of the film Antony Perumbavoor and other members of the film. Cherian in his note congratulates Perumbavoor and said that he had made a great sacrifice in the film. The makers and also the team of the movie have confirmed the news of its release on big screens.
The producer Perumbavoor and other makers had earlier made the official announcement that they're considering an OTT release of the film with regard to the financial conditions. But now the intervention of the Minister in the matter has led to the theatrical release of Marakkar.
The movie cast includes notable actors such as Mohanlal, Suniel Shetty, Manju Warrier, and Arjun Sarja all of whom are known for their outstanding performances in different movies. The movie will show the epic story of legendary Kunjali Marakkar IV and his fight against the Portuguese. Marakkar which is a historical war film is considered to be the first Malayalam film made with such a huge budget of Rupees 100 crore approximately.
