Meet Shreya Lenka: Soon To Become India's First K-Pop Star - Here's How

An 18-year-old singer Shreya Lenka from the Indian state of Odisha is just a few steps away from becoming the first K-pop artiste from India as there is only one battle that she needs to compete.

Shreya has made her place as one of the top two finalists to fill the vacancy in the Blackswan which is a South Korean girl group. She is chosen after a process of global audition where singers from across the world competed to get selected in the girl group.

The final selection is yet to be done as the competition is now between Shreya Lenka from India and Gabriela Dalcin from Brazil as stated by DR Music.

As per the information from the entertainment website Meaww, Gabriela Dalcin is one of the members of the dance cover girl group named Queens of Revolution. She performs K-pop dance cover songs.

On the other hand Shreya, the only Indian trainee selected is a yoga practitioner and a trained dancer who made various performances in K-pop dance cover songs just like Gabriela.

Both the finalists are currently moving to South Korea for a period of one-month training by DR Music and after the completion of the training period one of them will be joining Blackswan.

If gets selected, Shreya will be recognized as the fifth member of the K-pop girl group Blackswan. As the earlier fifth member singer Hyeme left the group in the month of November 2020, Blackswan formed by DR Music was in search of a singer that can fill in Hyeme's place.

In the month of May last year, the girl group made the announcement that they will be conducting global auditions to fill the vacancy of the fifth member.

Blackswan was formerly known as Rania and BP Rania that made their debut on October 16 in the year 2020 with the full album Goodbye Rania. The entire group consists of 4 members at present namely Fatou, Leia, Youngheun, and Judy.

Know About Shreya Lenka:

Shreya Lenka is originally from the Indian state of Odisha and known to perform in K-pop dance cover songs. She has skills in both singing and dancing and also in learning the dialect of the land.

The singer was born in 2003 in the Rourkela area of Jharsuguda district which is in the northern part of Odisha. Shreya during her childhood had taken admission for an Odissi class but left due to financial crisis.

She is trained in Hindustani classical dance and also pursued other contemporary dance forms including Odissi dance. She had done training under Madan Mohan Purty, the winner of Boogie Woogie HipHop 2009.
