Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani: Censor Board Requests Changes Ahead of Release

MUMBAI: Karan Johar's "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani" starring Ranveer Singh & Alia Bhatt faces last-minute changes from CBFC ahead of its July 28 release.

In the midst of enthusiastic promotions, Karan Johar's much-awaited directorial venture, "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani," featuring the dynamic duo of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, encountered some unexpected hurdles from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Set to hit theaters on July 28, the film has been granted certification with certain requested changes.

According to reports, the CBFC carefully reviewed the film and directed the filmmakers to omit references to Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's Parliament. Additionally, a dialogue mentioning Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, was ordered to be removed. Moreover, the use of an offensive term, "b*******d," used multiple times in the film, was requested to be replaced with "behan di." Furthermore, the alcoholic brand "Old Monk" was substituted with "Bold Monk."

Furthermore, the movie features a scene set in a lingerie shop, which raised concerns with the Censor Board. A dialogue within the scene was considered "degrading to women" and was demanded to be removed. Additionally, the word "bra" in the film was replaced with the term "item."

The certification for "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani" was issued on July 19, and the film is slated to have a runtime of 2 hours and 48 minutes. The trailer, released earlier this month, introduces the characters of Rocky (Ranveer Singh) and Rani (Alia Bhatt), portraying their love story between two individuals from diverse backgrounds. The couple decides to live with each other's families before tying the knot. Notably, veteran actors Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan play Rocky's Punjabi parents, while Shabana Azmi portrays a member of Rani's family in the film.

As the anticipation for the movie grows, fans eagerly await the on-screen chemistry between Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. However, the recent changes ordered by the CBFC may impact certain aspects of the film. Despite the modifications, the excitement surrounding the release of "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani" remains undeterred.
