Ram Charan and Jr NTR Starrer RRR Postponed Again Amidst COVID Spike

The release date of ‘RRR’ directed by S.S. Rajamouli has been pushed again due to rise in the COVID-19 cases as announced by makers. The film was scheduled to release on 7 January 2022.

NEW DELHI: The makers of the much-awaited Telugu action-drama 'RRR' announced another postponement of the film. The multi-lingual film which was scheduled to hit big screens on 7 January 2022 is now postponed 6 days ahead of its release informed by makers through a tweet.

RRR was postponed several times since the year 2020 because of the global pandemic COVID-19. In the beginning, the makers set the release date for the film as 30 July 2022 which was later postponed t0 8 January 2021. But the date again pushed ahead and was decided as 13 October 2021 but this too was pushed to 7 January this year.

The makers with heavy hearts said that they are left with no choice as the film is postponed four times. Due to strict restrictions imposed in theatres across the country in view of the increase in covid cases the release date of RRR as 7 January is cancelled. As the film is now postponed the already booking amount of Rupees 10 crores has been refunded.

The major announcement was made after film director S.S. Rajamouli visited Mumbai on Saturday 1 January to meet all the stakeholders of his movie. Other cast members of the film also tweeted that they are forced to postpone the release date of the film.

The film cast Telugu star Jr NTR and Ram Charan in lead roles along with Bollywood actress Alia Bhat and actor Ajay Devgan. RRR is directed by famous screenwriter and filmmaker S.S Rajamouli and produced by D.V.V. Danaya under production company DVV Entertainments.

During the two weeks occasion of the Sankranthi season, there will be the theatrical release of a total of six small and medium-budget Telugu movies.

Due to the rise in covid positive cases and postponement of the film the cinema industry has faced great emotional and financial setbacks throughout the recent years. Filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli informed that the internal shooting of the film cost a huge amount of Rupees 75 lakhs per day.
