On Sunday, streaming platform Netflix announced the renewal of the Korean thriller show Squid Game for the second season after the Season was recorded as a massive hit worldwide.

Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, this south Korean thriller game about survival was like a dose to avoid the boredom of people during the latter half of 2021.

Now the fans don't need to wait any longer for the second season of the show as Netflix has recently announced the release of the second season. The dystopian show is about deadly games where people compete to get cash.

Squid Game was released in 2021 and it broke records. It became the most-watched series in Netflix globally. Netflix announced its second season officially in January. Now, 8 months later, since the first season was premiered, the second season has been officially announced on the streaming platform. On June 12, Netflix released a short teaser of it, featuring animation of the animatronic doll that was portrayed heavily in the show's maiden season.

The creator of the show also wrote a brief letter stating the announcement-"It took 12 years to bring the first season of 'Squid Game' to life last year. But it took 12 days for 'Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever. As the writer, director and producer of Squid Game, a huge shout out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show. And now, Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns. Season 2 is coming. The man in the suit with ddakji might be back. You'll also be introduced to Young-hee's boyfriend, Cheol-su. Join us once more for a whole new round (sic)".

Though the fans will have to remain patient as Squid Game isn't likely to get released until 2023 or even 2024. The fans have to relax and maintain their excitement by watching the teaser only.

Squid Game catered for attention with its "Edge-of-the-seat" story. The nine people series is about a group of desperate people who signs up to play mysterious children's games with the hope that they will get a good cash prize. They put their life on risk for KRW 45.6 Billion prize money. In the series, 456 people from every sphere of life are invited to play a series of games that includes life challenging situations. The series includes casts like Lee Jung- Jae, Park Hae- Soo, O Yeong- su, Wi Ha- Joon, Jung Ho- Yeon, Heo Sung- Tae, Anupam Tripathi and Kim Joo- ryoung.

This Netflix game series created a record at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards by securing as the first non-English language series to score a nomination. Actors Lee Jung- Jae and Ho- Yeon secured the prizes. Squid Games also got 3 Golden Globe Awards and the best TV drama.
