GUWAHATI: In yet another success in its campaign against drugs and psychotropic substances, the Guwahati police on Thursday recovered 1 lakh Yaba tablets worth Rs 5-8 crore from a dumper (MN06J2136) which was travelling from Manipur.

The seizure was made from inside the cabin of the dumper by a squad led by Joint Commissioner of Police Partha Sarathi Mahanta.

Four persons have been arrested in this connection - Md Islamuddin (40), Md Aboi (21) and Md Sakir Ahmed (27) from Manipur and Md Abbas Ali (27) from Bihar.

According to police sources, the Yaba tablets were meant for transportation to Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, a team of the Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) from the Satgaon Police Station on Thursday arrested a drug peddler - Rajib Sonar of Panjabari - after he was caught with three vials of brown sugar at Panjabari.

A Scooty (AS01FA4232), a mobile phone & Rs13,500 in cash were also recovered.
