GUWAHATI: Altogether 11 drug peddlers were held in two operations on Wednesday. Of them, nine were arrested from the Paltan Bazar area while two others were picked up from the Fastashil Ambari area.

Police sources informed that personnel of the Paltanbazar Police Station and the SOG (Special Operation Group) of the CGPD (Central Guwahati Police District) apprehended nine persons linked with drugs trafficking & peddling today morning.

The Police also seized the following items from them: 136 containers with suspected heroin (19 gm); Rs. 12,200; and four mobile handsets.

The arrested nine persons have been identified as Babul Ali, Kasim Ali, Md Nilchand Ali, Biplob Biswas, Hazra Begum, Nazima Khatun, Abidur Rahman, Afsana Begum, and Abdul Khalek.

In another operation, SOG personnel of the West Guwahati Police District, arrested two persons at Barsapara area on Wednesday and recovered 100.27 gram of suspected contraband heroin from their possession.

The arrested duo has been identified as Sunny Thapa (18) and Rahul Ghosh (28)

The SOG team was led by the OC (Officer in Charge) of Fatashil Ambari Police Station.
