GUWAHATI: GRP personnel arrested two persons - Jahar Ali and Ayub Ali - from Salmara Sar in Sualkuchi on November 9 on the charge of abduction of a train passenger to withdraw money with his ATM.

Jaivardan Kumar, hailing from Bihar, travelled by train from Dimapur to Bihar. According to GRP personnel, the two miscreants were following him from Dimapur. The family members of Jaivardan lost their track in Guwahati, where the mobile phone went off, the GRP personnel said. It led the family members to file an FIR at Dimapur.

Since his mobile phone went off after reaching Guwahati Railway Station, the GRP of this Railway Station had to investigate the case by taking a suo motto case.

During its investigation, the GRP investigators got the location of the mobile of Jaivardan at Salbmora in Sualkuchi. The GRP conducted a search operation, leading to the arrest of the two.

According to GRP sources, the duo said that they got the ATM Card, PAN Card and the mobile phone from a body floating in the Brahmaputra. They said that they released the body the water current.

According to sources, the duo withdrew money with the ATM card of Jaivardan several times.

The case is under investigation.
