GUWAHATI: 20 students from the state have been shortlisted during the state-level competition of Kala Utsav 2023 organized by Samagra Shiksha, Assam, at the Srimanta Shankardev Kalakshetra, Panjabari, on Wednesday. These shortlisted students will compete at the national level, two each in the categories of vocal music (traditional folk), vocal music (classical, instrumental music- percussive, instrumental music-melodic, dance (classical), dance (folk), visual arts (2-dimensional), visual arts (3-dimensional), indigenous games and toys, and drama (solo acting).
Kala Utsav is an initiative of the Ministry of Education (MoE) under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha to promote arts in education by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talent of school students at the secondary stage in the country.
As many as 89 students from all districts of Assam participated in this state-level competition, held in Guwahati on November 1. Eight students from Sivasagar, five from Kamrup Metro, two each from Jorhat and Karimaganj, and one each from Charaideo, Tinsukia, and Golaghat were shortlisted by the judges during the state-level competition. The national awardees will also receive a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 as the first prize, Rs. 20,000 as the second prize, and Rs. 15,000 as the third prize.
