GUWAHATI: The Gauhati University will organize its 29th convocation on May 6.

According to sources, the Governor of Assam and Chancellor of the university, Prof Jagdish Mukhi, has approved conferring of an Honoris Causa Degree (DSC) to eminent academician Prof Dhirendra Nath Buragohain and conferring of honorary PhD to litterateurs Sumanta Chaliha and Nahendra Padun, as also distinguished scholar of folk culture Dharmasingh Teron.

On the occasion, degrees/diplomas/certificates will be conferred to successful candidates (both regular and distance mode) of all examinations for which results were declared between January 1, 2020 and February 28 this year. Degrees will also be conferred to the candidates who obtained their D Litt., D Sc, M Phil and PhD degrees from the university during this period. Governor Jagdish Mukhi will preside over the programme.

The convocation will be addressed by Prof KK Aggarwal, Chairman, National Board of Accreditation, and Vice-Chancellor of the Gauhati University, Prof Pratap Jyoti Handique.

An Academic Procession will be led by Dr Hemanta Kumar Nath, Registrar, Gauhati University, who will also deliver the welcome address.
