31 of 53 parking areas of Guwahati are free for public: Guwahati Municipality Corporation (GMC)

GUWAHATI: Parking has been one of the major problems for the Guwahatians for quite some time now, with complaints of the invisibility of ample parking spots as well as the charging of arbitrary rates for parking. But as per the officials of the Guwahati Municipality Corporation, the city has several free parking spots, as per reports in April 2023.

The following are some of the free public parking spots in the city: Cotton Collegiate School Junction to Panbazar Police Point on the South Side, Commissioner’s Point to Don Bosco School, Paradise Hotel to Guwahati Sadhu Ghar, Pepe Jeans to News Live on the West Side, Guwahati Sanitary to Silver Square on the West Side, Panasonic (near Srinagar Point) to Marble Plaza (Hanu Boro Point), GMC office Div. V Ground, Panbazar Police Point to City Pharmacy on the North Side, CCF office to Rehabari Naamghar, Bara Bazar from Shankar Jewellery to Pandu College on both sides, Central Police Hospital to SS Road Junction Union Bank to IDBI Bank on Express Highway, Prime Bakes’ Special to Sangam Steel Hardware, Betkuchi wholesale fish market, Six mile flyover landing Kamrup Auto Electric House to opposite point Kanak lata path west side, Vision hospital to Shiv Mandir, Abhishek Motors to Archies Galery on South Side, Durgaram Das Complex to Ajoy Hotel, Krishi Bhawan to opposite Asha Bora Foundation, Dainik Janambhumi to Srinagar Path, SBI ATM to Das Photostat on GNB Road, Bharat Ghar to Assam Valley, Opposite Sankardev Nethralaya to AG office Junction on East side and Old Netralaya to Casa Constructions on West Side, RS Trading to Paradise Hotel on South Side, Patarkuchi road point to new Bazar Bridge, Chabipool point to KC Road Junction, High Court East end to Md Tayabulla Road, Bhangagarh Flyover, Athgaon Flyover, Lachit Ghat and Motilal Nehru Road junction to Mahatma Gandhi Road junction on SS Road.

All other parking spots across the city have been allotted to lessees or managed by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation.
