34,500 Doses of Covaxin Vaccine Arrive in Assam

GUWAHATI: Assam on Thursday received a fresh stock of 34,500 doses of the Covaxin vaccine. The State received 50,000 doses of the same vaccine on Tuesday. The development is expected to minimize the shortage of the Covaxin vaccine in the State.

The Health Department recently stopped inoculating the first dose of Covaxin to the people in the State. Altogether 1.50 lakh individuals have so far received the first dose of Covaxin. The fresh stock of vaccine will be used for the beneficiaries for whom the second dose is due now. Till Wednesday 44,91,137 individuals have been vaccinated. Out of the total beneficiaries 36,23,090 have received the first dose of the vaccine. The second dose of vaccine has been inoculated among 8,68,047 individuals.
