5 women drug peddlers held by Guwahati police

GUWAHATI: Various wings of the city police recovered a sizeable quantity of drugs and ganja in separate incidents in the last 24 hours and arrested 10 drug peddlers, including five women. According to police sources, in one incident, a team of the West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) and the Jalukbari Police Station raided the room of one Faizul Hoque of Saraighat Nagar and recovered 0.75 gm of brown sugar along with 595 gm of ganja. He was arrested along with five accomplices - Sahanur Islam, Nayeb Khan, Rahul Ali, Zamina Begum and Rubina Begum.

In another incident, a team of the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) from the Jorabat Outpost of the Basistha Police Station raided two shops near Sankardev Nagar, Jorabat and recovered 3.2 kg of ganja. Two women - Junti Kaur amd Savita Devi, both from Sankardev Nagar - were arrested in this coonection.

In yet another incident, The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) raided a house at Lachit Nagar here and arrested two drug traffickers - Ankur Jyoti Das and Jolie Devi. Seven gm of brown sugar, five mobile phones, four syringes, a Scooty (AS01BS2872) and Rs 15,500 in cash were recovered from their possession.
