6,193 theft & 593 robbery cases in six months of 2020 in Assam

GUWAHATI: Crimes like thefts and robberies, apart from theft in temples have all along been making the people of Assam pass sleepless nights. And this statement is backed by statistics.

According to own admission by the State police force, in the past six months till June 2020, as many as 6,193 theft cases took place in the State. Of these six months, there was corona-induced lockdown in the State in April, May and June. Despite the lockdown when family members were supposed to be indoors, there were such a large number of theft cases in the State.

The period was also marked by robberies of diverse hues in the State. According to records received from the State police force, in the past six months up to June this year as many as 593 incidents of robbery took place in the State. Where the State is heading for?
