GUWAHATI: The Assam Tea Tribes Students' Association (AATSA) has requested Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to extend the June 30 deadline for seeding Aadhar cards with ration cards in case of tea garden workers and dwellers of rural areas.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, the AATSA has stated that there is a lack of proper awareness among the tea garden workers and people from remote rural areas regarding the importance of Aadhar enrolment as well as its linkage with the ration cards. On the other hand, the letter stated, due to insufficient number of Aadhar Enrolment Centres installed in the tea garden and rural areas, many people have been unable to get Aadhar enrolment and also linkage with the ration cards within the deadline notified by the Government.
As such, the AATSA has requested the Chief Minister to extend by some more months the deadline for Aadhar card enrolment as well as its seeding with ration card seeding for people of tea garden and rural areas of the State.
