GUWAHATI: The AASU (All Assam Students Union) carried out 'satyagraha' against price rise of fuels and essential commodities across the State on Friday. The central satyagraha programme of the AASU was held here under the aegis of the 'All Kamrup (Metro) District Students' Union) and the 'All Guwahati Students Union'. The AssU members bought out a rally from Swahid Nyas at uzan Bajar. AASU Chief Adviser Sammujwal Bhattacharjya along with AASU adviser Prakash Chandra Das and AASu president Dipanka Kumar Nath among other leaders participated in the rally. The Guwahati Police, however, restrained the processionists from proceeding towards the Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner's office.

Then, the AASU processionists continued their stir at that spot. Finally, they submitted a memorandum demanding to the Chief Minister of Assam through the Kamrup (M) DC and the also the Commissioner of Guwahati Police to initiate immediate steps to curtail the rise in prices of fuels and essential commodities. Later talking to media persons, AASU Chief Adviser Bhattacharjya said, "Both the Central and the State governments must immediately take measures to address the woes of the public with regards to the unreasonable hike in prices of fuels and other essential commodities.
