GUWAHATI: The All Assam Yoga Mahasangha (AAYM) is going to hold a three-day yoga programme in various districts of the State to bring about awareness among the masses as to "How Yoga can Boost our Immunity System in this Pandemic Situation" from December 25, 2020. Addressing the media at Guwahati Press Club here on Monday, AAYM president Dipika Kalita and general secretary Dibyajyoti Deka said that the Mahasangha was formed by the former students of Purbanchal Mahavidhylaya, Maligaon to ensure placements of all qualified yoga teachers in the State. They said that the Mahasangha submitted a memorandum to Minister of State for Urban Development, Health and Family Welfare Piyush Hazarika. The duo said that approximately 1,000 students pass out from different yoga colleges of the State every year, but only a few of them get job avenues in some sectors. A few others who have the wherewithal start their own institutes can get self-employed, they said. At present there are 46 yoga colleges in the State. The programme will conclude on December 27, 2020.
