After the incident came to light, the Superintendent of GMCH has asked patients and their family members to remain alert.
Now the staff of GMCH will have to go through police verification.
In the meantime, police detained two thieves identified as Mominul Islam and Kuddus Ali in GMCH when they were trying to stealing mobile phones and bags.
Earlier, Gauhati high court has denied the bail plea of Plaban Barthakur, the prime accused in the recent
kidney trafficking case in Assam. The court gave this judgment on Tuesday. As per reports, apart from Plaban Barthakur, the bail plea of another accused in the kidney trafficking case Mintu Das has been rejected. The court denied both the accused persons' bail after the court observed that there were enough evidences against them. The advocate who argued in the court on behalf of the government in the kidney trafficking case is Makhan Phukan.
Several cases of organ trafficking were reported from Assam in July this year following which the prime accused Plaban Barthakur was arrested by police. In July this year, a man of Tinsukia district Arup Kumar Sinha sold his kidney for an amount of Rs. 4 lakh in Kolkata because of poverty. He was detained by the police to find out if there was the existence of any human organ trafficking racket in the case. In the same month (July), police had busted an inter-state gang involved in the illegal trade of human organs in Morigaon district.
