All Assam Construction Workers' Union (AACWU) staged a dharna in Guwahati

GUWAHATI, Dec 9: The All Assam Construction Workers' Union (AACWU) staged a dharna at Chachal in Guwahati today in support of their demands, including pension, educational scholarships for their wards, health check-ups, aid for deceased etc. AACWU general secretary Phanidhar Das said that the Central Government blended the Construction Workers' Act with the Labourer Act. It abolished the independence of the Labour Welfare Board. The government making all systems online is harassment for the labourers, he said.
