GUWAHATI: The All Assam Fair Price Shop Dealers’ Association has decided not to lift and distribute rice and kerosene under the Food Security Act for an indefinite period from March 1 if the government does not concede to its demands. The association general secretary Hemanta Kumar Deka told reporters on Tuesday that the indefinite strike is an extension of support to the similar nationwide stir by the All India Fair Price Shop Dealers’ Federation from March 1. Among various demands, the association has asked the government to ensure monthly income of Rs 30,000 for fair price shops owners and supply of all essential items at minimum support prices to the public through fair price shops.
