All Assam PWD Assistant & junior engineers staged protest at Dispur Last Gate

GUWAHATI: All Assam PWD Assistant Engineers and Junior Engineers' Association staged a protest at Dispur Last Gate on Wednesday.

The body showed their resentment against the recently published advertisement by APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) to appoint Assistant Engineers and Junior Engineers in the PWD. The protesters stated that on March 2019, the PWD conducted an exam under the regulation 3F, 1951 following which they were appointed. They have been working in their respective departments with proper training since last one year and thus, they argued that there is no need to advertise for appointment of candidates for the same posts. In a release, the association demanded job security and regularization like the contractual posts of other departments.

According to the advertisement published by the APSC in November 2019, the exams will be held on March 22 and April 5 for the posts of Junior Engineers and Assistant Engineers respectively.
