GUWAHATI: The All Assam State Primary Teachers Association (ASPTA) has declared that they will not be doing any additional work starting in July. They added that they will continue to take proper classes for the students as they are doing now, but if the education department and the education minister try to make them work as data operators, they will be forced to abstain from taking these classes.
The organisation mentioned that the education department needs to decide how the positions will be created for the head teachers of the primary schools and how the graduation lists will be prepared. But instead of concentrating on these duties, the minister is busy with other activities. They were also reminded about the promises in the same direction made by the education minister on December 21, 2022.
They also denied doing any additional work apart from teaching from the month of July onwards, as they were continuously being forced to work outside those premises. While adding that proper education for young students is possible only when the teachers are treated properly and not when they are threatened. The association also pointed out several other problems, including the non-availability of resources for students in some regions of the state.
