All Assam Students' Union opposes proposal of property tax hike

GUWAHATI: AASU (All Assam Students' Union) has strongly opposed the state government's proposal to increase property taxes in the urban areas.

The government is in an effort to increase the property taxes from April this year. But AASU in-charge and president Utpal Sarma and General Secretary Shankarjyoti Baruah said in a statement that people have suffered a lot during the COVID pandemic, and hence, the authorities should drop the decision.

They also added that the government always attempts to impose and increase taxes, which is against the well being of people. The government should drop this decision or else they will be compelled to lead massive protests in the upcoming days.
