GUWAHATI: The All Guwahati Students' Union (AGSU) observed Martyrs' Day with a day-long programme at Swahid Udyan at Paltan Bazar here of Thursday.

While AGSU president Anwar Hussain hoisted the flag of the AASU (All Assam Students' Union), the flag of the Asom Unnati Sabha (AUS) was hoisted by its general secretary Dr. Jogesh Deka at the morning. Noted poet Bhupen Chakravarty led the paying of tribute to the martyrs.

There was an all-religion prayer at the programme accompanied by recitation of the Bhagwat, the Koran and the Bible. There were also programmes like naam prasanga. As many as 855 flames were lighted in the evening in memory of as many martyrs.
