GUWAHATI: The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), headed by Badruddin Ajmal, held a press meeting on Sunday at the party's headquarters, where they said to combat the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and form an anti-BJP front.

AIUDF general secretary and MLA Aminul Islam said, "Our party decided to sit upfront against the BJP in the next Lok Sabha election. Keeping in mind the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, there are groups or small parties in the country that are trying to combat the BJP. All these processes will be under the leadership of JDU (Janata Dal United) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar."

Further, he said, "Recently, an AIUDF delegation led by party chief Badruddin Ajmal met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Pawar, where we discussed the political scenario of the country. Nitish Kumar has decided to appoint one candidate from each party to stand against the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. This whole formula is praised by us. We also met the RJD and the former Chief Minister of Bihar, Lalu Prasad Yadav. He expressed his willingness to work upfront against the BJP in the elections. As per suggestion by Nitish Kumar, we met Sharad Pawar too."

"There is no such party that can stand against the BJP, so we need to stand together. Pawar has urged us to come together on one platform and fight against the party."

On being asked by a reporter, as the Congress had recently had an 11-party meeting, why was the AIUDF not a part of it? The MLA said that there is no such conversation with the Congress leaders as of now. "We have accepted the invitation from Nitish Kumar, and there should not be any questions regarding that Congress meeting," he said.
