GUWAHATI: Amidst the blame game between the Congress and the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) over cross voting in the recently held Rajya Sabha polls in the State, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has ruled out the possibility of a poll alliance with the AIUDF in future.

Talking to media persons, APCC president Bhupen Bora said, "As long as I am the president of APCC, there can never be an alliance between the Congress and the AIUDF. I was never in favour of any alliance with the AIUDF in the past and had even apprised the All India Congress Committee (AICC) about it. In the present situation, an alliance between the AIUDF and Congress is not possible at all.

"After Ramzan, we will start organizational work in the LACs which have AIUDF MLAs in order to strengthen the base of our party in these LACs."

He further said, "The Congress may have made some mistakes in the last assembly polls for which it must make amends. We will approach the people and I appeal to the people of the State to accept the Congress with open arms."
