ALPCL seized huge quantity of meat, egg & vegetables while being sold at high prices

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) under the leadership of Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation Ltd (ALPCL) Chairman Manoj Saikia seized a huge quantity of meat, egg and vegetables in city while being sold at high prices.

The GMC with the ALPCL and the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department jointly carried a drive in many places in the city and checked the licences of the vendors. The team also inspected whether the goods are sold maintaining social distancing, hygiene and accurate prices as directed by the district administration.

After receiving complaints, the ALPCL Chairman went to the places like Last Gate, Survey, Beltola, Jayanagar, Hatigaon, Basistha, Khanapara etc, with a team and seized chicken, egg and vegetables from many vendors. Besides this, the corporation sealed two stalls in the Six Mile and Beltola area.

Saikia also appealed to the Municipal Corporation to take step to distribute the seized items in Old Age Homes and in Orphanage. Director of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department Dr. Pulin Das, Joint Commissioner of Municipal Corporation and other officers were also present during the investigation.
