Anganwadi Centers Opened at Rani by Airports Authority of India & UNDP

GUWAHATI: Under the project activity of strengthening of Anganwadi centers, the Airports Authority of India in association with UNDP India have successfully completed the upgradation of three Anganwadi Centers at Rani Development Block, under the Resilience Building of Communities around Guwahati Airport project.

On the auspicious day of Gandhi Jayanti, 2 October 2019, AAI and UNDP organised the Inauguration Ceremony of Sikarhati Anganwadi Centre, one of the newly upgraded centres under the same project.

The inauguration ceremony of the newly upgraded AWC entitled “Resilient Childhood” was kick started by Sanjeev Jindal, Regional Executive Director, AAI North East; Dr. SK Sinha, Senior Fellow, TERI, Northeast, John Borgoyary, Regional Head, NE India, UNDP and the Headmaster, Sikarhati High School.

In his address to the gathering, Jindal said that teachings and thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi is still relevant after a decade. We are back to the Gram Panchayat and looking for the ideas rejuvenating from here and their methodology of maintaining a higher happiness index, he added.

‘His principles can’t be defeated, Bapu’s way of defeating his enemy was non-violence, non-cooperation and boycotting which we still feel is applicable’ Shri Jindal said. Every Individual initiative is important in bringing the Gram panchayat in main stream, and this should begin from us, from within and one for all.

Focusing on the Sanitation for surrounding, he said that Gandhi Ji believed in cleanliness in next to godliness and every one must practice this in their lives.

About the project he said that It’s a learning process for us with the officials of UNDP which will benefit Children and local population enhancing in the safe and healthy society. Talking about the Anganwadi workers, he said that these ladies need encouragement, their contribution is more important than us as they are agents for change.

He also assured local community leaders that AAI will care for the requests raised by local leaders, Panchayat for any additional requirements.
