GUWAHATI: The All Assam Sanjogi Siksha Karmi Union, the Thikabhittik Siksha Karmi and Sewak-Sewaki Oikyamancha, Sarbasikhsa Assam, the Education Volunteer Association Assam and the Siksha Sarathi, Siksha Karmi and Community Volunteer Association of Assam have demanded that the State Government should make an announcement within May 20 regarding holding of another Special TET examination. They further declared that they would launch a series of agitational programmes from May 21 if the Government fails to accede to their demand.

The associations' demand and threat of agitation came after a joint meeting at Hatigaon here on Wednesday.

They informed that if their demand for a Special TET examination is not met, then they will start their protest programme with a gherao of the Sarba Siksha Abiyan (SSA) Assam office at Kahilipara on May 21. They further informed that if the gherao programme on May 21 also fails to evoke the desired response, then they will resort to a 'Dispur chalo' rally on May 31.

They added that they would be forced to resort to a self-immolation programme later on if the Government remains indifferent to their demand.

They said that members of the four organizations worked for two to six years on a token remuneration of Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000 per month, before their services were terminated without notice by the Government.
