GUWAHATI: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take action against the State BJP government for violating the Model Code of Conduct.

APCC alleged that the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has formally launched the ‘Free Drugs Scheme’ for 651 tea garden hospitals across the State on Tuesday. This launching will benefit the BJP in the ensuing bye-elections of four LACs. Terming it a gross violation of the Model Code of Conduct, the APCC has requested ECI to take action against the CM and BJP government “for the greater interest of free and fair election.”
