GUWAHATI: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Bhupen Borah appointed Prasanta Kumar Saikia as the in-charge president for Nagaon district.
On November 11, the Nagaon District Congress Committee (DCC) president, Suresh Borah, resigned from the party and joined the BJP.
After the resignation of Suresh Borah, APCC President Bhupen Borah gave the responsibility to APCC working President Rana Goswami to discuss with MLAs, MPs, and Congress leaders from Nagaon district the selection of a new district president.
APCC organizational general secretary Bipul Gogoi issued an order regarding the party decision for the president of Nagaon DCC. The order said, in consultation with the senior leaders, Congress MPs, and MLAs of Nagaon District, a proposal has been sent to the All Indian Congress Committee (AICC) for approval for the post of President of Nagaon DCC.
APCC president Bhupen Borah has entrusted the responsibility to Prasanta Kumar Saikia to look after the Nagaon DCC office and to discharge the day-to-day party activities of Nagaon DCC as a vice president until the appointment of a permanent DCC president.
