GUWAHATI: The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has instructed all deputy commissioners of the State to hold meetings regarding flood preparedness by April 15.

In Assam, the flood season starts from April and lasts till October. This year, due to the elections, some DCs couldn't conduct the flood preparedness meetings before the month of April.

After successful conduct of the meetings in all districts, the ASDMA will hold a review meeting where the DCs will inform the former about their requirements to fight against the flood.

By the end of this month, the State Chief Secretary will also conduct a meeting with all the DCs.

Meanwhile, the Kamrup Metro District Administration conducted its flood preparedness meeting which was chaired by DC Biswajit Pegu.

The meeting was also attended by representatives from NDRF where they discussed precautionary measures to tackle the floods. During the meeting, the DC directed the representatives of Water Resource Department, Lok Nirman Bibhag, and APDCL to take necessary steps to fight against the flood.
