GUWAHATI: On the occasion of National Voters' Day on Wednesday, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president and Cabinet Minister Atul Bora reiterated that his party will continue to work for the benefit of the indigenous people of Assam.

Talking to The Sentinel, Bora pointed out that the AGP was born after the six-year-long Assam Agitation, which was aimed at protecting the indigenous people of the State from illegal migrants. As such, the main focus of the party remains the welfare of the indigenous people of Assam, he said. To mark National Voters' Day, the AGP launched a Statewide public outreach programme which will continue till the next Lok Sabha and Panchayat elections.

All functionaries of the party, including Atul Bora and working president Keshab Mahanta, were present at booth-level meetings in their respective Assembly constituencies.
