BJP to name Majuli bye-poll candidate on March 13 or 14

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said today that the BJP would name its candidate for the Majuli bye-election on February 13 or 14.

Talking to the media today, the Chief Minister said, "The state BJP will hold a meeting on February 12 and discuss the issue of party candidate for the Majuli bye-election. We will send the panel of candidates to the party high command, and the high command will name the candidate."

The Majuli bye-election is on March 7, and the counting is on March 10.

Regarding the municipal board election, the Chief Minister said, "The towns in the state have many problems. Now funds will go for the development of the urban areas in the state.

"The development of urban areas leads to the development of the state as a whole. The enthusiast people should come forward as candidates for the municipal board elections. The people who want to contest the municipal board elections should be enthusiast enough to see the drainage and sewerage systems in the morning. They should not frown when people visit their houses in the morning with civic problems. The win of such enthusiast candidates can be virtuous for the urban areas in the state."

The municipal board election in the state will be on March 6, and the counting of votes will be on March 9.
