GUWAHATI: The Assam State Primary Teachers Association (ASPTA) expressed their grief over the demise of the president of the All India Primary Teachers Federation, Rampal Singh. He died at a private medical facility in New Delhi on Friday. The secretary general of the Assam State Primary Teachers Association, Ratul Chandra Goswami, said that since his death, over 25 lakh primary school teachers in the state have lost their guardians. He mentioned that the Sikshak Bhawans at the Sub-Division and Circle levels of the state will fly their flags at half-mast for three days as a mark of mourning for his demise. He also added that prayer meetings will be organised in schools across the state on September 23 to pay homage to the departed soul.
Rampal Singh was born on June 1, 1940, and was 83 years old at the time of his demise. He has left behind his wife, two sons, a daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. Apart from being the president of the All India Primary Teachers Federation, he was also a board member and vice president of Educational International, an international teacher organisation.
