GUWAHATI: Along with many organizations filing case against CAA in the Supreme Court (SC) , the Assam Association of the Deaf is also set to file their case against Citizenship Amendment Act. The association stated that Assam has already been bearing the load of foreigners from 1951 to 1971 as per the Assam accord and that Assam Can’t bear any more load from then onwards.
Addressing a press conference at Guwahati Press Club on Tuesday the association said, “In order to file a case against the C(A)A a group of members from Assam Association of Deaf have reached Delhi. The association will wait till December 18. It’s unfortunate to see the Chief Minister of Assam bowing his head in front of Delhi by ignoring the appeal of the Satradhikars. By shutting down the internet service, the government is not only violating the human right of public but the deaf as well.” The association further claimed, “Both state and central government is responsible for the current chaotic situation of Assam that has been resulted after CAB getting passed in the Rajya Sabha. Citizenship Amendment Act supporters are the biggest enemy of Assam and Assamese tribe. People of Assam will never forgive those supporting the C(A)A. Besides criticizing the government for their oppressive policy, the association also complained about government’s ignorance in solving the issues of the deaf that includes the necessity of Higher Secondary schools and colleges for providing higher education to the deaf.
