GUWAHATI: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the Mukhyamantri Lok Sewa Arogya Yojana for the government employees of the state. Several employee organizations expressed their happiness regarding this new healthcare scheme.

The Sadou Asom Sanmilita Sikshak Mancha, the umbrella organization of twelve teachers’ associations of the state, expressed their acceptance of the scheme. Mancha president Ranjit Borthakur and chief secretary Utpal Chakraborty welcomed this new scheme and thanked the Chief Minister for accepting their long-term demand regarding a cashless health policy. They also requested that the medical facilities under the Out Patient Department of hospitals be brought under the ambit of this scheme and to provide completely free healthcare to the teachers and staff serving under the state government.

The Sodou Asam Karmachari Parishad also expressed their happiness regarding the launch of this new scheme, which will come into effect in 2024 and thanked the Chief Minister for the same. Parishad president Dwipen Sarma and secretary Dilip Kalita mentioned that this facility will help relieve the load of medical expenses on the state government employees. They also expressed their thanks and gratitude towards the CM and the state government and informed that the scheme will come into effect from April 1 next year.
