GUWAHATI: Assam's Finance Minister Ajanta Neog and Industries & Commerce Minister-cum-Guardian Minister of Kamrup district Chandra Mohan Patowary, along with other dignitaries, on Saturday ceremonially distributed cheques to the beneficiaries under the Assam Micro-Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme (AMFIRS) 2021 in Kamrup district at a programme held at the Kumar Bhaskar Barman Kshetra in Amingaon.
A total of 5,000 beneficiaries were given cheques today, while the rest of the beneficiaries of the district will be given cheques at their respective Blocks. Addressing the meeting, Ajanta Neog appealed all beneficiaries to utilize this incentive for productive purpose, so that their families can prosper along with contributing positively to the State's economy.
Speaking on the occasion, Patowary thanked Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for initiating this kind of bold initiative in respect of woman empowerment.
The welcome address of the event was delivered by the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup, Kailash Karthik N. Norshing Bey, DDC, Kamrup, delivered the vote of thanks. The meeting was also addressed by Rajya Sabha MP Bhubaneswar Kalita. MLAs Bhabesh Kalita, Diganta Kalita, Suman Haripriya, Nandita Das, Rekibuddin and Ahmed also delivered speeches. MLA Hemanga Thakuria and OSD to the Chief Minister, Hemanta Choudhury were also present on the occasion along with other dignitaries.
